MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Forms Applications (70-536 and 70-505)

This certification definitely a good choice, since most HR pull resumes through keyword search and you know which those keywords are.

MCTS Self-Paced Training Kits are not enough to pass those exams but definitely a good way to start.

70-536:

MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-536): Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Foundation

70-505:

MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-505): Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 — Windows Forms Application Development

If you can, I would suggest you to do classroom training

70-536:

Course 2956: Core Foundations of Microsoft .NET 2.0 Development (three days)

Course 2957: Advanced Foundations of Microsoft .NET 2.0 Development (three days)

70-505:

Course 2546B: Core Windows Forms Technologies with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (3 Days)

Course 2547A: Advanced Windows Forms Technologies with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (2 Days)

Course 2541B: Core Data Access with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (3 Days)

Course 2542A: Advanced Data Access with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (2 Days)

Or at least some E-Learning’s

70-536:

Collection 5161: Advanced development with the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Foundation (16 hours)

Collection 5160: Core development with the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Foundation (14 hours)

70-505:

2546AE: Core Windows Client Development with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (18 Hours)

2542AE: Advanced Data Access with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (12 Hours)

2547AE: Advanced Windows Client Programming with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (12 Hours)

2541AE: Core Data Access with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (16 Hours)

After completing Training kit, Classroom Training or E-learning, make sure you take some available practice tests/Sample exam.

      Self Test Software (Selftestsoftware.com)

Other information: Microsoft has a nice training series called the MSDN RampUp which is a free online training course for .NET. Now it’s free but that’s not all. You also get a few goodies when you finish the training. You get

  • 25% off the cost of the 70-536 exam (and a free retake)
  • 50% of 2 eLearning course (5160 and 5161)
  • 30% off the MS Press training kit listed above

So it’s good value and a great place to start plus the bonus stuff is very handy!

Hope this is helpful.
