Using Search Scopes
Enterprise Search – the ability to search content from several sources across your enterprise- is one of the most valuable tools included in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. However, as you increase the amount of information indexed by the search engine, you increase the number of potential results from a search query. When search starts to return hundreds or thousands of results, the ability to find information quickly and easily is diminished. To address this issue, SharePoint Server allows you to narrow the search results returned to users executing a search via Search Scopes. In this video, Rob Windsor will demonstrate how to use the built-in search scopes and how to create and configure custom search scopes at the Web Application or Site Collection level.
